By george, we got it!

Just wanted to share the good news: we found out over the weekend that we got the house! I guess it took so long to find out because there were several offers. They liked ours the best, but we were the only FHA offer. Apparently they can't sell houses that are missing bathroom floors and toilets to first time home buyers, so they had to find out how much they would have to pay to put those things in before they could accept our offer. Anyway, they accepted all of our terms and are going to put those things in for us. We can't wait to get in there and get to work!

Patience is a virtue...that I simply don't have.

We've been looking at houses recently and finally found one that we thought would work for us. We put in an offer last Tuesday and we STILL haven't heard anything. It's driving me nuts! Our real estate agent has been calling us every day since Thursday saying "they're telling me they'll have an answer for us TODAY", which certainly doesn't help my patience. And of course the longer I wait the more convinced I am that I really want this house. Oh yeah...and did I mention that someone else put in an offer the same day we did? So now I'm nervous in conjunction with being impatient, which has made me cranky and inattentive all week! (IF we end up getting this one, i'll post pictures....you'll all be laughing at the old fixer-upper that i had my little heart set on!) I have to keep reminding myself that if it's the right house it'll work out. It's just hard to wait.....

All about Eva

I like to check on Eva before I go to bed, and last night was no exception. I went in to check on her and...as usual...she was snoozing away peacefully.....completely and utterly BUTT NAKED! i had a hard time making it out of her room before i busted up laughing. i don't know if she was too hot or what, but i hope this isn't a trend. thankfully i was able to get a diaper on her without her waking up too much.

She has taken a liking to going through my jewelry (much to my chagrin) and managed to hook an earring over her ear. she kept walking around shaking her head and giggling about the earring swinging back and forth.

Her newest favorite thing is to get into her retired baby car seat, hook the chest strap by herself (don't try to help her...she'll bite your head off) cover up with her blanket, surround herself with her stuffed animals and look through a pile of her books. funny...that's one of my favorite things to do too....except for the furry friends and being strapped into a much too small seat. she can do this for a half hour at a time, which is really nice for me. the only drawback is she doesn't know how to undo the chest strap so i have to come in several times and unhook it for her so that we can repeat the whole process.

my first clothing project!

you know you're an old lady when you're blogging about projects on new year's eve and HOPING to go to bed very very soon. :) but that's another post. my mother-in-law was in town for part of a day and offered to help me get going on sewing Eva some clothes. So we whipped up this little dress and I am quite proud of it, despite the many little mistakes I made. I have to say...having someone tell you what to do next rather than having to read those dang directions makes sewing a heck of a lot easier! thanks beth!

Our Christmas

I'm finally getting around to posting about Christmas (thanks for the subtle encouragement Amy!). We had a nice little Christmas here with just the three of us. It was fun trying to incorporate traditions from both mine and Jared's family. One thing Jared's family always did was to give every kid a box of cereal on Christmas. It sounds weird, but I guess with 7 brothers having a box of cereal to yourself was a real treat. It turned out to be Eva's favorite part of the whole day. She completely ignored her presents and sat happily munching on the several varieties of cereal that were left under the stockings. We spent the rest of the day eating and planning meals so we could eat some more! Our dinner could have fed a group of 16. Good thing we like leftovers. This was Eva's first encounter with Santa. I don't think she was especially fond of him.

This one cracks me up...she just climbed into the cabinet and closed the door, and then would open in and let us have an earful before going back in.

I had to include a picture of her in the beautiful dress Grandma Beth made.

Ahhh...family pictures..someone always has to look goofy...and it's very typically me.

Daddy's Girl

Eva LOVES her Daddy. He is her favorite person to snuggle up with (in those rare moments that she wants to snuggle). When she hears the phone ring she says "Dah?" and stands guard by the window to watch for him coming home, and when she sees him she FLIPS out and starts yelling and banging on the window. Before I put her down for a nap she wants to give his picture a kiss (she went through a phase of toting that picture around with her). And if she feels like making noise...she hunts down Jared who's more than happy to yell right along with her. She's definitely a Daddy's girl and I think it's adorable.

Right after she was born she was crying and crying but the minute she got ahold of her Daddy's hand..she instantly stopped.

This last picture was taken a few days ago when she got really really sick. She was just walking around crying and Jared dropped everything to sit and rock her. Thanks for being such a good hubby and Daddy Jared!
